In a significant case reshuffle, South Korean Leader Moon Jae-in on Friday replaced the perfect minister and six different case members to restore his party, following damaging local election beats and his policy agenda.
Moon called Betty Boo-kyum, a former interior minister and four-term lawmaker, to succeed Chung Sye-kyun as primary minister, while selected new ministers of land, market, fisheries, labour, and research and technology.
All six candidates are at the mercy of parliamentary verification hearings. However, lawmakers do not have the power to stop the session if the president squeezes forward with a conventional appointment.
The reshuffle came into being a week after Moon’s leading Democratic Party suffered crushing losses in a unique election for key mayoral posts amid political scandals and economic policy blunders.
With the elections seen a litmus check for political shifts before the March 9, 2022, presidential election, the ruling party’s destroy signalled a hard ride for Moon’s plan agenda, including ending runaway home prices and reforming a strong prosecution system.
Moon’s single five-year expression ends in 2022.
