Russia is among the four countries that are vying for hosting Euro 2028 and 2032

Russia and Turkey will be competing against a joint bid from both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland to host the Euro 2028 football championship. Russia is one of the countries that could hold 2028 or 2032 for the European Championship in 2028 or 2032, despite being barred from international sports after Ukraine’s invasion. Ukraine and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Wednesday after the deadline for declaring an interest had passed.

Russia and Turkey will contest an agreement between The United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland for Euro 2028.

Russia and Turkey have also expressed plans to host 2032’s event, together with Italy.

UEFA will announce the host countries for the two tournaments in September 2023.

Russia was the host of 2018’s World Cup, while Saint Petersburg was one of the venues for last year’s postponed Europe-wide Euro 2020.

In May, Saint Petersburg was also supposed to host this season’s UEFA Champions League final, but it was robbed of the event after Russia entered Ukraine.

After UEFA, Russia was exiled from the qualification process to this year’s World Cup. The world’s football governing body has decided to exclude Russia from all international tournaments «until more notice.»

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld the prohibition last week, which also applies to Russian clubs and the women’s squad, who were ejected from the July European Championship in England.

‹Re-evaluate›

An official from European, the governing body of football, said it is the Russian Football Union (RFU) has not been exempted from its own rules.

The same source stated that UEFA would «re-evaluate both the legal and actual situation» at upcoming meetings in April and May, «including in light of declaring interest issued in RFU.» RFU».

Turkey hopes to be successful this time, after losing against Germany to be the host of Euro 2024.

They will compete with UK and Ireland and have decided to pursue an agreement in 2028 to be the host of 2028’s Euro in 2028, instead of choosing a 2030 World Cup.

Italy is currently the reigning European champions, has played host to the Euro twice before in 1968 and 1980.
